Marine Applications Overview
Rivertrace Engineering Ltd produce a range of products that meet and exceed the I.M.O. resolutions MEPC 107(49) and MEPC 108 (49) relating to water discharges from ships.
Ongoing development ensures Rivertrace products remain at the forefront of available technology and consistently push the boundaries of oil-in-water analysis.
Rivertrace has the solution to your environmental monitoring needs.
Smart 50M – Boiler Condensate / Cooling Water Monitor
Multiple optical sensors measures the combination of light absorbed and scattered by oil droplets in the sample stream. The sensor signals are read by a microprocessor which uses sophisticated algorithms to determine the concentration of oil and solids in the stream. The oil concentration is displayed on an alpha numeric display. A microprocessor drives a 4-20 mA current loop output which represents the concentration of oil. Two volt free alarms are driven when the oil concentration exceeds the set points. An Autoclean system is included to ensure the accuracy of the optical measuring system is maintained over extended periods of operation.view technical details download spec sheet
Smart Sense Viscosity System
Rivertrace Engineering have developed a Viscosity System for Heavy Fuel Oil & Marine Distillate applications. The technique used in the SMART Sense sets it apart from other viscometer’s as it incorporates an improved method of using the vibrating rod at resonance frequency. The technique is Electro Magnetic which is far more robust than other piezo electric methods. Through this new principle it is now possible to measure accurately viscosity and temperature without frequent calibration or maintenance. The SMART Sense Viscosity System is designed for full flow, inline installation in Heavy Fuel Oil and Marine Distillate applications allowing for improved accuracy at lower viscosity when switching between HFO and Marine Distillate.view technical details download spec sheet
SMART CELL BILGE ALARM
IMO Resolution MEPC 107 (49) came into effect on 1st January 2005 and applies to all new installations of oil content monitors within engine room spaces. This applies to existing ships and ships whose keel is laid on of after 1st January 2005. The Rivertrace Smart-Cell Bilge Alarm meets the requirements of MEPC 107 (49) for monitoring of 3 oil types: Fuel Oil, Diesel and Emulsions. By utilising the Smart- Cell Detector Array Technology, technology developed by Rivertrace, the Bilge Alarm analyses all three oil types simultaneously without the need for re-calibration. A manual cell clean device is included as standard to easily enable routine maintenance. Optical cell fouling is recognised as a leading cause of monitor malfunction or incorrect reading. By simple operation of the manual clean device, the Smart-Cell remains in optimum operating condition.view technical details download spec sheet
The Oil Discharge Monitoring Equipment (Smart ODME)has been designed to provide means of monitoring, recording and controlling the ballast discharge inaccordance with the requirements of MEPC 108(49). Discharge limits are set at 30 Litres per nautical mile and atotal discharge expressed as a proportion of the previouscargo for dirty ballast. The requirements of the MARPOL Convention are that all oiltankers with a gross tonnage of 150 GRT and above musthave an oil discharge monitoring and control system installed, incorporating an approved oil content meter, witha starting interlock and an automatic overboard valvecontrol system. The Smart ODME includes all componentsrequired to meet MEPC 108(49) and is designed for easeof installation and maintenance. The requirements in IMO Resolution MEPC 108(49) apply totankers with a date of keel laying or equivalent stage ofconstruction of 1st of January 2005 or later.view technical details download spec sheet

The OCD CM is the result of market research and development of new technologies to produce a monitor that exceeds the existing standards and meets the requirements requested by customers and operators worldwide. The OCD CM has been specifically designed to eliminate the effects that cause false instrument alarms where the water contains high levels of solid particulates. In particular the unit has been designed to ignore the presence of iron oxide, of which most bilges have a plentiful supply, and output only the true oil concentration. All this in a package that is 25% the size of the OCD 2M. The OCD CM also has built in diagnostic features and the ability to show the inspectors if the software has been tampered with. Additionally the unit runs through a self check diagnostic routine on power-up that ensures all parameters are within limits and activates the alarm relays at their prescribed set points. All user adjustable parameters are accessed from an easy to use pushbutton menu from the front of the unit.view technical details download spec sheet
